The following is a list of Pennsylvania Re-Entry Resources that can be shared with inmates and their families. Hopefully this resource, in addition to the resources available from your facility’s Reentry Coordinator, will help inmates connect with the services or contacts they might need. "For individuals previously incarcerated, earning a college degree can be one of the best ways to move forward and decrease their odds of returning to prison.
While pursuing higher education after incarceration may have a few extra steps and restrictions, it’s far from impossible and can be well worth the effort. Besides lowering recidivism rates, having a college degree increases earning potential and employment rates. Focusing on learning new skills and preparing for a career can also help formerly incarcerated individuals develop purpose and structure in their post-incarceration lives.
This guide will review the various post-secondary education options available to formerly incarcerated individuals, how to select and apply for a college degree program, and the restrictions individuals should be aware of if they have a criminal record. Our guide, 'Higher Education After Incarceration,' provides comprehensive insights for formerly incarcerated individuals on pursuing higher education and workforce reintegration, covering everything from obtaining a GED to exploring trade schools. It's an invaluable resource for H.R. teams and employers, offering practical advice and supporting their commitment to inclusive hiring and the continuous development of their employees."
